Intersection Meeting Next Week

The intersection of Spalding and Chamblee Dunwoody Road is usually littered with broken car lights and miscellaneous fender parts.  The specialty at this location is the classic T-bone.  Yesterday's T-bone special involved a motorcycle.  Not good.

Agreed! I've never been able to discern an aesthetic or rational reason for the design of that intersection. Surprised there aren't a couple of accidents there every day.

A city has a responsibility to examine any intersection where there has been a disproportionate number of accidents and investigate how it is working. And if it does not take practical steps to ensure the safety of the roadway, the municipality can be held liable if persons are killed or injured in the intersection.

As a city and a community, we have a fiduciary and ethical obligation to ensure the safety of our intersections - within reason. We can't make decisions based on sentimentality and penuriousness when the safety of any one of its citizens or guests are arbitrarily placed in jeopardy.
