Lemonade Days Not Just for Kids

The family had a great time at Lemonade Days last night. We expect the same tonight. Here's a tip for you parents: Come inside with the kids. You don't need a ride-bracelet to walk around. At one end of the carnival is a large white tent. Inside the tent is LIVE music. They have tables and chairs already set up.

Tonight is un-official middle school night so come join the fun!

Lemonade Days 2012 Dunwoody

It's that time of year again. Lemonade Days starts Wednesday of this week, and continues through the weekend.  Lemonade Days is a great fundraiser and this year the Dunwoody Preservation Trust is raising money for the Donaldson-Bannister-Chestnut-Spruill-Major Dunwoody farmhouse in Dunwoody.  The house is in serious need for refurbishment so come on out and ride the rides and eat a few funnel cakes.

But before you go, go HERE for coupons. If your kids really want to go on rides (and you do as well, perhaps), I highly suggest Wednesday and/or Thursday night. Next week is the unofficial last week of school for DeKalb County Schools because we all know the learnin' stops after the CRCT is administered, so let the kids have some fun this week.

Take a look at the schedule and you'll see live music has been added to the attractions.  The Bad Neighbors band will not be performing (but they do have an upcoming event at the Dunwoody Tavern very soon, details to follow soon) however, the band list looks pretty good to me.

An insider with DPT tipped me off and told me the Vomit-Tron StarShip 2000 is back!

Here's how StarShip 2000 works:  You walk in the hatch, the hatch closes, you spin at 100 RPM for a few minutes, exit hatch, vomit, wait in line, then repeat cycle.

A favorite from last year was the Himalaya ride.  This rides plays loud music (usually Motley Crew and Quiet Riot.  1983 was a really good year for music.

The Himalaya is a good choice before going on StarShip 2000.  It lets your body know it's in for a few twists and turns the rest of the evening.
the ride is innocent looking, but watch out.  Riding at night is better

lots of rides for the smaller kids
How could you walk by this place and not buy something? I think this structure should replace the steamless car-wash at the intersection of Mt Vernon and Main Street
A couple of things to grab hold of on this ride if the slide gets too slippery (this painted lady will make a return trip to the dunk tank this year so bring your $1')
The Dunk Tank list is not complete so check back for updates.  Farmer Bob and I have a cotton-candy eating contest scheduled for this weekend so keep tuned in for that as well.

In summary, Lemonade Days is great for kids from age 3 to 18, and adults from 19-74.  Go early and often.  Dunwoody PD roams the park and I've never seen any problems at this event.
