Georgia's Proposed New House and Senate Maps for Dunwoody

My maps (above) are not 100% accurate as I made those boundaries with a Photoshop brush.  Looks like the 40th district (currently Fran Millar) picked up some turf in N. Fulton County and gave up some in Gwinnett.  With a population increase in this are, the actual sq. miles is probably less for the 40th. The district appears to remain a Republic seat.  Any future competition for Millar for this seat would come from here in Dunwoody and from the north around Chattahoochee Station.  The area of the 40th inside 285 has a good bit of Democratic voters, but not enough to take the seat in the next election.

I don't see much change in GA's 79th House district (Tom Taylor).  I know it had to change a bit due to population changes, but expect a Republican to keep this spot.

Take a look at the GA 80th House district (currently Mike Jacobs).  This district now covers part of Sandy Springs.   It remains Republican, with the bulk of it in Jacobs' territory.  That slice of Sandy Springs is less than 25% of the district.

Elena Parent, a liberal Democrat from DeKalb, now holds the 81st district crown. This district has been redrawn a good bit.  Look for a tight race for Parent, Democrat Dobbs of Buckhead, and a Republican from Brookhaven area..  This used to be a Republican seat (sort of), but not currently.

Here's a link to the Dunwoody Reporter with better maps than my hand-made stuff.

Odds and Ends

I have to start off the blog with some bad news - Eden Wood has retired from Toddlers and Tiaras. Not sure I can bring myself to continue watching - Brock and Mackenzie may not be enough to keep me tuned in.

Compost at  DNC
FarmerBob has a new post regarding composting and the Nature center - see HERE.

Finally, here's a photo of the bike rack at Austin.  Last year this rack remained empty nearly every day.
